Easter Egg Hunt

Val had the wonderful idea to have an Easter Egg hunt for our kids this year! She made the eggs, I cleaned the backyard, we all invited a friend and everyone brought yummy snacks to share.  There were 8 kiddos and 12 adults and we had a blast in our tiny Norfolk yard (free of dog droppings after 4 rounds of scooping this week!!!)

J Man and I did some rehearsing this afternoon since I knew he would have NO idea what an Easter egg hunt is. He does love to clean up, however, so I thought I could capitalize on the "clean up and put all the eggs in the basket." He finally grasped the concept of carrying the basket, so I hid some eggs around the house for him to find.
Once he found a few of them, he thought it was time for an egg toss!
We walked around the block and went to practically everyone's front door...wrong holiday, buddy.  Gotta wait a few months for that one, but I'm glad you understand it for this coming year!
Then we came back and he proceeded to act as the Easter Bunny (but not a very clever one), hiding all the eggs in one spot in the front flower garden.

Everyone arrived and we attempted to get a group shot (like herding cats) before the festivities began.
4 of 8 in one picture, not bad

The best part of the afternoon was eating cheerios that fell into some dirt.

Eli, counting his loot...and there was a lot in that basket. He had to empty and go back for round 2!

We had a great day. Happy Easter, everyone!
Although it is good fun to enjoy chocolate, egg hunts and the Peeps, the real reason we celebrate Easter is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Mark 16: 4-7

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’”
